Publisher review:DbPics builds for you a photo album on your web site. DbPics is a kind of Content Management System (CMS). It is a set of file that you upload with ftp to your web site. Once done, the rest is very easy.
You just need to upload photos using your web browser and to tune your web site by managing the set up with your browser inside the administration pages within your site. You can also use your actual ftp client to upload your photos in the pics directory.
What is required
- a web server accessible via ftp
- php 4 activated on this web server
- GD library activated in php, which is usually the case by default
- you need to know how to upload some files on your web server, by ftp or any other way
- your photos, and that's it, there is no need for any database. DbPics works without any database
Visitor functions
- a server cache for html page and reduced images. It speeds up page download because they are compute only once for all
- you can leave some message on photos
- you can browse the album in your favorite image resolution, choosed one time for all pages.
- you can see last visitors comments, for one photos or for the whole site.
- a diaporama enables you to see all images within any subdirectory, with a pop up window or not, in the resolution you want, including or not subdirectories
- you can use the mini integrated search engine to look forward any string in names, descriptions, messages of any pages
- you can choose your favorite display resolution that will be used all the long of your visit
Webmaster functions
- you can manage your site globally with your web browser, using the admin page and the configuratiion pages
- you can manage each page of your site separately with your web browser, using the admin cookie and going to the concerned page to edit it and see in real time the changes
- all html pages are generated by the DbPics engine on the fly, with creation of reduced images and thumbnails if needed
- A cache greatly improves speed of page downloading, this cache is activated by default, thumbnails and reduced images are also kept in cache if their size are under the limit set up (200 pixels by default). This cache can be set up or not for each directory tree
- You can comment each page, directory or photo.
- You can delete visitors comments of any page or change their order
- Any header or footer can be easily added, static ones with html files, or dynamic ones with php files, files already exists, you just need to edit them
